NNAAMMEE
faxconfig - dynamically change _H_y_l_a_F_A_X configuration
parameters
SSYYNNOOPPSSIISS
$${{SSBBIINN}}//ffaaxxccoonnffiigg [ --qq _q_u_e_u_e_-_d_i_r ] [ --mm _m_o_d_e_m ] [ _p_a_r_a_m_e_
_t_e_r _v_a_l_u_e ... ]
DDEESSCCRRIIPPTTIIOONN
_f_a_x_c_o_n_f_i_g sends messages to a _H_y_l_a_F_A_X server process
telling it to install new values for one or more configu
ration parameters. These new values are maintained only
for as long as that server process executes; to setup
long-lasting configuration parameters the appropriate con
figuration file(s) must be edited (see _h_y_l_a_f_a_x_-_c_o_n_
_f_i_g(${MANNUM4_5})).
_f_a_x_c_o_n_f_i_g is especially useful for setting certain config
uration parameters that control the operation of _H_y_l_a_F_A_X
server processes. For example, by manipulating the MMooddeemm
PPrriioorriittyy parameter of one or more _f_a_x_g_e_t_t_y(${MANNUM1_8})
processes it is easy to dynamically reconfigure the order
in which _H_y_l_a_F_A_X will assign modems to outbound jobs.
If no _m_o_d_e_m is specified with the --mm option, then _f_a_x_c_o_n_
_f_i_g will send messages to the central scheduler process,
_f_a_x_q(${MANNUM1_8}). If a _f_a_x_g_e_t_t_y process is to be con
tacted, the specified _m_o_d_e_m must be the last component of
the character special device filename the modem is
attached to.
Consult the _h_y_l_a_f_a_x_-_c_o_n_f_i_g(${MANNUM4_5}) for the list of
configuration parameters that can be set with _f_a_x_c_o_n_f_i_g.
OOPPTTIIOONNSS
The following options are available:
--mm _d_e_v_i_d Direct messages to the _f_a_x_g_e_t_t_y process servic
ing _d_e_v_i_d instead of the central scheduler pro
cess, _f_a_x_q. The _d_e_v_i_d is an identifier derived
from the name of the modem's device file; for
example _t_t_y_m_2 for _/_d_e_v_/_t_t_y_m_2, _t_e_r_m___1_0 for
_/_d_e_v_/_t_e_r_m_/_1_0.
--qq _d_i_r Use a spooling area other than _$_{_S_P_O_O_L_}.
FFIILLEESS
${SPOOL} default spooling area
${SPOOL}/FIFO fifo for contacting _f_a_x_q
Consult _h_y_l_a_f_a_x_-_s_e_r_v_e_r(${MANNUM4_5}) for a complete dis
cussion of the structure and content of the spooling area.
